Zweifel

The "Weinkellerei Zweifel & Co. AG" in Zurich-Höngg in the Swiss canton of Zurich was founded in 1898 by Emil and Paul Zweifel with the aim of growing and trading in wine, as well as producing fruit juice. However, the traditional family has been involved in viticulture since 1351. Today the company is managed by Walter and Maja Zweifel. It is divided into the "Domaine Z" (the winery), a wine trade with well-known producers from Europe and overseas (partly as general agency) and a wine gastronomy. The property includes vineyards in the Klingen and Riedhof sites in the city of Zurich, at the Lattenberg in Stäfa on Lake Zurich, as well as in Regensberg and Remigen in the neighbouring canton of Aargau. The Zurich wines are made from the white wine varieties Riesling x Sylvaner(Müller-Thurgau), Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer and the autochthonous Räuschling, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Merlot, Syrah. On behalf of the city of Zurich, the Zurich city wine "Chillesteig", named after a site, is produced exclusively by Zweifel from Riesling x Sylvaner. In Regensberg in the canton of Aargau, in addition to wines from Pinot Noir and Riesling x Sylvaner, an organic wine from the Regent, Maréchal Foch, Léon Millot and Garanoir varieties is also produced.
