Riede (site) in the municipality of Berghausen in the Austrian wine-growing region of Southern Styria, which extends as far as neighbouring Slovenia. It is situated at an altitude of almost 500 metres above sea level, comprises 12 hectares of vineyards and is oriented towards the south and southwest. In the upper area there are old water wells. To protect against erosion caused by abundant rainfall, parts of the area are drained. In the upper area, interspersed with shell limestone, there are blue marls at depths of up to 12 metres, which also appear in some places. The white wine varieties Chardonnay or Morillon,Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Silvaner, Riesling, Traminer,Pinot Blanc and Welschriesling, the red wine varieties Blaufränkisch and Cabernet Sauvignon as well as a special kind of mixed set, namely Steirischer Mischsatz cultivated. The Domäne Müller, Primus and Tement Manfred wineries (picture), for example, have shares in the vineyard.
