The winery is located in the municipality of Sommerach (Maindreieck area) in the German wine-growing region of Franconia. The tithe (Zehent) is the traditional, approximately ten percent payment to a religious or secular institution. In the case of vineyard ownership, this took the form of grapes that were delivered to a tithe yard (Zehntkeller) and then processed there. The farm, formerly run by Benedictine monks from Münsterschwarzach Abbey, was built in 1682. It has been owned by the Weickert family since 1962 and has been run by Tobias and Justina Weickert since d1998. The vineyards cover five hectares of vineyards in the single vineyards Katzenkopf and Rosenberg (Sommerach), as well as Kirchberg (Volkach). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Kerner, Traminer, Scheurebe and Bacchus, as well as Pinot Noir.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
