The red grape variety comes from Greece. Synonyms are Zalobitiko, Zalobitico, Zalovitico and Zalovitika. The parentage (parent) is unknown. The vine is cultivated sporadically in central Greece, Thessaly and northern Greece. In 2016, however, no stocks were reported (Kym Anderson).
