This white grape variety comes from Austria. It belongs to the large Veltliner group. The name is derived from the brownish-grey berries. Synonyms are Bachovichka Belina, Brauner Veltliner, Gelbling, Todträger and Wachler. In the Vivc catalogue there is also an independent variety Brauner Veltliner.
