The winery in the municipality of Stuttgart-Untertürkheim is located in the German wine-growing region of Württemberg. It is already the sixth generation of the family to grow grapes. The father of the current owner left the winegrowers' cooperative in 1960 and began bottling himself. Hans-Peter Wöhrwag took over the winery in 1990, having previously studied in Geisenheim and gained experience in California's Napa Valley. The vineyards cover 20 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Altenberg, Herzogenberg (under sole ownership) and Mönchberg. They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling (40%), Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Müller-Thurgau, Sauvignon Blanc and Muskateller, as well as with the red wine varieties Trollinger, Lemberger, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Dornfelder. The estate's premium wines include above all the Rieslings, the red wine cuvées Philipp (80% Lemberger, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon) and Cuvée X (50% each Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon), as well as noble sweet specialities. The winery is a member of the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates).
