The winery is located in the municipality of Dittelsheim-Hessloch (Wonnegau area) at the foot of the Kloppberg in the German wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. Originally from Austria, the traditional family was first mentioned in a document in 1469. They have been involved in viticulture for many generations, with Werner Winter planting Silvaner and Riesling vines as early as 1600. For a long time, however, the estate was a mixed agricultural business until the early 1990s, when it concentrated completely on viticulture. Today, the farm is run by Stefan Winter, who gained practical experience at the Keller Klaus (Rheinhessen) and Bassermann-Jordan (Pfalz) wineries.
