On 21 March 2001, the "First Wine Event Riesling Worldwide" was held at the Geisenheim Research Institute in the Rheingau region of Germany, organised by the BDO (Bund deutscher Oenologen). The main focus was on Riesling, twelve high-quality German Riesling wines were presented, compared and evaluated with foreign producers (Australia, South Africa, USA, France and Austria). This could be witnessed live on the internet worldwide and could be followed with a sample package. See also under awards and wine events.
Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
