Name of an alcoholic product obtained by distilling wine or wine fortified for distillation or by redistilling a wine distillate. However, it is an intermediate product not intended for direct human consumption. Wine distillates are used (in addition to wine and wine fortified for distillation) as a raw material in the production of spirits (max. 86% vol. alcohol content) or brandy (max. 94.8%), as well as for the fermentation of certain liqueur wines (max. 86%).
