Wine is ideally stored at a constant temperature of around 8 to 12 °C in summer and winter, a humidity of 70 to 80% and also protected from light. These conditions are normally found in a wine cellar. If such a cellar is not available, then a climate-controlled cabinet is the ideal place to store the wine (although this can of course also be useful in a cellar). The influence of UV rays can cause the wine defect " Käseln " (light taste) in bottles that are not stored under darkness. In addition, the correct drinking temperature is an important factor and varies greatly depending on the type of wine (see wine temperature for more details). A conventional refrigerator is rather unsuitable because there is too much vibration and temperature fluctuation.
Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
