The winery is located in the municipality of Fels am Wagram in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Wagram. A wooden tree press dating back to 1848 bears witness to the long winegrowing tradition and the farm name Wimmer-Czerny refers to the last four generations of winegrowing families. Johann Czerny Jr. and his wife Astrid have been running the business since 1993. In 1985, the vineyards were converted to high leafy walls and the right varieties were planted in the right locations. The vineyards cover 15 hectares of vines in the Felser Berg, Fumberg, Mitterweg, Scheiben and Weelfel vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Roter Veltliner, Riesling,Pinot Blanc and Traminer, as well as the red wine varieties Zweigelt and Pinot Noir.
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
