Designation for several vineyard sites (Rieden) in Austria.
The south and south-west facing and partly terraced vineyards with a slope of up to 70% consist of weathered sandstone soils with a humus layer. They are mainly planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc. The Stift Stift Klosterneuburg winery, for example, has a share in the vineyard .
The vineyard was first mentioned in a document in 1274 as "vinea, quae vocatur wiege". The southeast-facing and wind-protected vineyards with soils of weathered limestone with brown earth overlay are situated at an altitude of 240 metres above sea level. They are planted exclusively with the autochthonous white wine variety Zierfandler. The wineries Gebeshuber Johannes and Stift Klosterneuburg, for example, have a share in the vineyard.
