The "Weinmanufaktur Follner" is managed by Dagmar and Dr. Ludwig Follner. The start was made at the beginning of 2006 with the purchase of one hectare of vineyards in the Burgenland free city of Rust. Through the purchase of selected sites (upper forest, small forest, Ritter, Gemärk, Goldberg) this was expanded to approx. 2.5 hectares. These are planted with the red wine varieties Blaufränkisch, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The vineyard is cultivated according to ecological aspects and the principles of organic viticulture. Since 2011 the farm is certified organic.
The credo of the company is: "Expressiveness and quality only come from the vineyard". Great importance is therefore attached to careful year-round care of the vines. Through rigorous, quality-enhancing selection, an extremely low yield is achieved with an average of 20 hl/ha (the maximum legal limit for quality wines is 67.5 hl/ha).
Vinification takes place in fermentation vats according to traditional methods, through strictly controlled spontaneous fermentation. After fermentation, the wines mature in used and new barriques, in which the BSA also takes place. Premium wines are the Blaufränkisch "FREUDE pur", the Cuvee "LIEBE pur" and the pure Merlot "FOLLNER pur". In some years there is also a Cuvee "Das Glück". As specialities, large bottles in the formats 1.5 litre, 3 litre, 6 litre and 9 litre are also offered.
