Weinidylle Südburgenland

The association was founded in 1989 and is a union of the local winegrowers' associations in southern Burgenland (DAC area Eisenberg). The vision was to create a wine country in common effort, which would find international recognition for its special characteristics. The wine quality should be improved and joint marketing activities should be promoted. The two leading grape varieties are Blaufränkisch and Welschriesling, other typical varieties are Blauburger, Cabernet Sauvignon and Zweigelt. Every year, the 60 best wines are selected from those wines that live up to the mission statement in a concealed tasting by supra-regional wine experts. These are marked as "The best 60 from the wine idyll" and are offered for one year in the regional vinotheque in Moschendorf. Over the years, a number of projects have been realised under the umbrella of this association, such as a nature park covering 14,000 hectares and the wine museum in Moschendorf with houses and cellars in their restored original state from the last four centuries.
