Producer description of "Weingut Wechsler"

The winery is located in the municipality of Westhofen (Wonnegau area) in the German wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. In the formerly pure bulk wine business, bottled marketing was started in 2012. After internships at the wineries Gutzler (Gundheim) and Keller (Flörsheim-Dalheim), it has since been run by Katharina Wechsler. The vineyards comprise 17 hectares of vines in the single vineyards Benn in sole ownership with over 50-year-old Rieslín vines, Kirchspiel with the parcel Schweißtröpfchen, Morstein and Steingrube (Westhofen).

They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Silvaner, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Scheurebe, Huxelrebe and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as Pinot Noir. The conversion to certified organic viticulture is planned for 2019. The wines are vinified according to their origin. In the cellar, a non-invasive principle with as few interventions as possible applies. The premium wines of the house are the site Rieslings Benn (Monopol), Kirchspiel and Morstein. A sparkling wine "Fräulein Hu" is also produced. The winery is a member of the Maxime Herkunft Rheinhessen winegrowers' association.
