The red grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Jaeger 43 x Laussel. Genes from Vitis aestivalis, Vitis labrusca, Vitis lincecumii and Vitis vinifera are present. The hybrid was crossed in 1893 in the USA by the botanist Thomas Volney Munson (1843-1913). No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
