Wannemacher Josef

The winery is located in the community of Hagenbrunn on the city limits of Vienna in the south of the Lower Austrian wine growing region Weinviertel. Attached is a Heuriger which has been in operation since 1936. The business is run by Josef and Elisabeth Wannemacher, who are the fifth generation of the family to run it. The vineyards comprise nine hectares of vineyards on the slopes of the Bisamberg in the areas Hofmauer, Hölle, Leutl, Praschen and Tagnern. They are planted to 70% with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner (about one third), Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Traminer, and 30% with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon and St. Laurent. The cultivation is close to nature and environmentally friendly. The white wines are matured in steel tanks or in large wooden barrels, the red wines in large wooden barrels and partly also in barriques. Grüner Veltliner is especially cultivated. Premium wines are the two Weinviertel DAC (Grüner Veltliner) from the vineyards Hofmauer and Praschen, Riesling Exclusive and the red wine cuvée "Die Erfüllung". A bottle-fermented sparkling wine is also produced.
