Some synonyms are used for the varieties Blauer Wildbacher (Blauer Kracher, Schilcher), Hanns (Abendrot) and Žametovka (Blauer Hainer). Nothing is known about possible connections. The synonym Columella Variegata refers to Columella (1st century); possibly a reference to a variety mentioned by him or an ancestor.
