This white grape variety is a new cross between Budai Zöld x Pinot Gris. Synonyms and breeding numbers are B 38 and Badacsony 38. The cross was made in 1957 in Hungary by grower Ervin Kiss and Ferenc Kiraly. The early to medium-ripening vine is moderately resistant to both types of mildew, but is sensitive to damp weather. It produces fruity white wines with floral notes. It is cultivated in the Hungarian regions of Badacsony, Balaton-felvidék and Kunság. Just under six hectares of vineyards were designated in 2016 (Kym Anderson).

In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
