The red grape variety comes from Greece. Synonyms are Boedomata, Voidamato Lasithiou, Voidomata, Voidomati, Voidomatis, Voidostafylo and Voidostaphulo. The ancestry (parenthood) is unknown. The variety is cultivated on some Aegean islands like Santorini. There it is used for the sweet wine Vinsanto. It is also used as a table grape. In 2010 no stocks were reported (Kym Anderson).
