Well over 100 bird species are native here, including the rare wheatear. The southwest to northwest-facing vineyards with slopes ranging from 10 to 15% cover 250 hectares of vineyards. The predominant shell limestone soils are interspersed with loamy sand. The wineries Baldauf, Braun Heinz, Braun Waldemar, Rothe Manfred and Rudloff, as well as members of the WG DIVINO Nordheim Thüngersheim, have shares.
