The cooperative winery is located in the town of Almendralejo (Badajoz province) in the DO Ribera del Guadiana in the Spanish region of Extremadura. It was founded in 1983. The vineyards cover 500 hectares of vineyards at an altitude of between 300 and 500 metres above sea level in the Tierra de Barros sub-area. The wine cellar has a capacity of two million litres. The main varieties cultivated are Cayetana Blanca, Pardina and Macabeo, as well as Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Mazuelo. Dire wines are produced under "Emperador de Barros".
