The US company, headquartered in Napa Valley, was founded in 2007 by Tim Keller (a former winemaker). During his MBA studies at the University of California in Davis, he developed a special screw cap that enables a targeted supply of oxygen during bottle storage and ageing. It is assumed that a continuous supply of oxygen has a positive effect on aroma and colour, especially in red wines, which has been confirmed by tests at the AWRI (Australian Wine Research Institute).
The cap contains many microscopically small holes through which oxygen (air) can pass. The aluminium cap contains a special seal with several layers of plastic made from polyethylene and polyester. Due to this extreme density, oxygen passes through the cap in very small, constant quantities (the so-called OTR = Oxygen Transfer Rate). nanooxigenation bezeichnet.

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
