The winery is located in the municipality of Gorca in Slovenska Štájerska (Lower Styria) in the Haloze area in the Podravje region of Slovenia. It is run by Maria and Michael Gross (sister company of the Weingut GrossGross winery in Ratsch, South Styria). The first vineyard was acquired in 2005 and the area has been constantly expanded. In 2011, a technically renovated winery (press house, vaulted cellar) high above Gorca was put into operation.

The vineyards cover 18 hectares of vineyards at 300 to 500 metres above sea level on extremely steep slopes with a gradient of up to 65% on exclusively terraced slopes on barren, rocky soils of calcareous clay marl, planted with the white wine varieties Sauvignon Blanc, Šipon (Furmint), Traminec (Gewürztraminer), Laški Rizling (Welschriesling) and Renski Rizling (Rheinriesling). The vineyards are cultivated by hand in accordance with certified organic viticulture rules. Each vine is cared for individually. This includes fertilisation with home-made compost and the avoidance of pesticides such as herbicides, insecticides and fungicides.

I have great respect for the scope and quality of the wein.plus encyclopaedia. It is a unique place to go for crisp, sound information on terms from the world of wine.
