This largest wine producer in
Canada was founded in 1989. Then in 1992
Inniskillin was taken over and a year later a merger with Bright Wines took place. At the beginning of 2006, the company was taken over by Multi
Constellation Brands (American Constellation Brand). Its holdings include wineries or vineyards in the Canadian provinces of British Columbia (Hawthorne, Okanagan Vineyards, Sumac Ridge), New Brunswick, Ontario (Jackson-Triggs, London Winery) and Quebec. Notable joint ventures include Nk'Mip Cellars (first Indian-owned winery) with Osoyoos Indian Band, Osoyoos Larose Winery with the owner of
Château Gruaud-Larose (both British Columbia), and Le Clos Jordanne (Ontario) with
Boisset from Burgundy. Furthermore, the company owns wineries in Australia, California, New Zealand and in the US state of Washington, as well as the import company Western Wines. Vincor produces wines in Canada under the above and other labels for both the mass market and the upmarket (VQA). The annual production is about seven million cases, the Canadian share is 20 per cent. Refreshment products and wine accessories are also marketed in Canada.
