The winery in the area of South Auckland(New Zealand, North-Island) was founded in 1961 by George Fistonich (son of an immigrant Croatian). The company is located in Mangere. The vineyards in the areas of Gisborne, Hawke's Bay and Marlborough cover 400 hectares. They are planted with the red wine varieties Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec(Cot), Merlot and Pinot Noir, and the white wine varieties Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Müller-Thurgau and Pinot Gris, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc. Among the best wines are the Reserve series (with the Beerenauslese Noble Riesling, New Zealand's most awarded sweet wine), Cellar Selection and Private Bin (for example the Cuvée Cabernet-Merlot). The estate also includes the two wineries Vidal Estate and Esk Valley.
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
