The winery is located in the municipality of Eckelsheim (Bingen area) in the German wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. Johann Bäder planted the first vines in 1921 in what was then a mixed agricultural business. His son Friedrich Bäder was one of the first winegrowers in Rheinhessen to plant the Dornfelder variety. As early as 1934, he established a second mainstay with a vine grafting business. In the third generation, son Hans-Friedrich Bäder expanded this branch. In the fourth generation, Jens Bäder, a graduate engineer, has devoted himself entirely to wine. During his studies in viticulture and oenology, he completed internships abroad and studied a wide variety of viticultural techniques. The vineyards cover 11 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Eselstreiber, Kirchberg and Sonnenköpfchen (Eckelsheim), La Roche (Uffhofen), and Steigerberg (Wendelsheim). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc, as well as with the red wine varieties Dornfelder, Pinot Noir and Pinot Noir. The aim is to produce exceptional and above-average wines that are unique every year. This is done with a return to traditional winemaking. The fermentation is mainly done with natural yeasts, the ageing in traditional wooden barrels. Special wine treatment is avoided as far as possible. The flagship of the house is the Riesling Uffhofener La Roche. In years when the weather is suitable, noble sweet Prädikat wines and ice wines are also produced. Sparkling wines and bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced. The winery is a member of the Message in a Bottle winegrowers' association.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
