The red grape variety comes from Spain. Synonyms are Canona, Crespielo, Garnacha Basta, Garnacha de Grano Gordo, Vidadillo and Vitadillo. The parentage (parenthood) is unknown. It must not be confused with the Garnacha Tinta variety, from which it differs according to DNA analysis, because of morphological similarities or synonyms that indicate it. It is grown in small stands in the Cariñena (Aragon) area. However, in 2010 no stand was reported (Statistics Kym Anderson).
