The white grape variety comes from Italy. Synonyms are Bresparola, Bresparola Bianca, Orisi, Orisi Bianca, Vespaia, Vespaiolo, Vespajola, Vespajuola di Bassano, Vesparola, Vespera and Uva Vespera. The name derives from the fact that their sweet, sugar-rich grapes attract wasps (Italian Vespa). The parentage (parenthood) is unknown. The medium ripening vine is resistant to winter frost, downy mildew, chlorosis and T dryness or drought, but susceptible to powdery mildew and botrytis. It produces acidic white wines with aromas of flowers, fruit and honey. The variety is cultivated in the province of Vicenza in the Veneto region. There it is registered in the DOC wine Breganze. In 2016, 90 hectares of vineyards were designated (statistics Kym Anderson).
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
