The white grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Eger 1 (Seyve-Villard 12-286) x Médoc Noir (Menoir). It contains genes from Vitis berlandieri, Vitis labrusca, Vitis lincecumii, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in 1957 by the breeders József Csizmazia and Laszlo Bereznai in Eger. The variety is mainly cultivated in the Kunság area. In 2016, 11 hectares of vineyards were designated in Hungary (Kym Anderson statistics).
