Vermont

The state in the northeast of the USA with the capital Montpelier was settled by white people from 1666 on. There is not yet an area classified as AVA. Viticulture is mainly done in the area of the northern lakes around Burlington, it is similar to the other states in New England. Mainly hybrids like Baco Noir, Cayuga, Léon Millot and Seyval Blanc are cultivated, but also European varieties like Chardonnay and Riesling. Typical for the New English states there are also wineries that specialise in cider and berry wines. The most important production plants are Boyden Valley Winery, Joseph Cerniglia Winery, North River Winery, Putney Mountain Winery, Shelburne Vineyard and Snow Farm Vineyard.
