The white grape variety comes from Spain. It must not be confused with the Pardillo variety (with synonym Verdoncho), despite the fact that it seems to have synonyms that indicate this. The parentage or parenthood is unknown. The vine produces simple, neutral white wines and is used as a blending partner. It is cultivated in the La Mancha and Manchuela areas. In 2010 the area under cultivation was 2,124 hectares.
