Verdil

The white grape variety originates from Spain. Synonyms are Verdal, Verdall, Verdell, Verdiel, Verdiell, Verdier and Verdill. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2021, it originates from a presumably natural cross between Hebén x an unknown parent variety and produces light white wines with aromas of apples and pineapple. The vine, which was threatened with extinction, was reactivated by winegrower Daniel Belda and is mainly cultivated by him in small quantities in the Vall dels Alforins in the DO area of Valencia. In 2016, 50 hectares of vines were recorded (Kym Anderson).
