The white grape variety (also known as Barbarossa Toscana) originates from Italy. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2013, the pink-berried vine originates from a presumably natural cross between Sciaccarello (Mammolo) x an unknown parent variety. It is also not known whether there is a possible genetic relationship with the white-berried Verdicchio Bianco variety. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).

In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
