The red grape variety originates from Portugal. Synonyms are Verdial Douro and Verdial Roxo. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2020, it comes from a presumably natural cross between Marufo x Malvasia Fina. It is grown in small batches in the Centro and Norte regions. In 2016, three hectares of vineyards were designated (Kym Anderson).
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
