This very old vine training is known under various names such as Albarello, Basket Training, Bäumchen, Bockerziehung, Busch, Bush Vines, En vaso and Vase. It was used by the Greeks in ancient times and adopted by the Romans. It is a special form of head training. The vines are trained in the classic form without any support (wires) or tied up to single stakes to create a cup-like shape (gobelet = cup or goblet) or by creeping along the ground.
