The English wine writer Pamela Joan Vandyke-Price (1923-2014) studied English at Oxford, was editor of Wine and Food Magazine and wrote for The Times. She was the first woman in Britain to write extensively about wine and spirits. She joined the ranks of many English wine writers and paved the way for a new generation of specialist writers, including Hugh Johnson (*1939) and Jancis Robinson (*1950). She was editor of Wine and Food Magazine and wrote for The Times.

Vandyke-Price wrote - and co-authored - around thirty books on wine and food, doing much to popularise the enjoyment of wine in her homeland after the Second World War (1939-1945). Her ability as a speaker was also impressive. Her best-known works include Dictionary of Wines and Spirits Alphabetica, Guide to the Wines of Bordeaux, The Taste of Wine, Curiosities of Wine, Christie's Wine CompanionFrance: A Food and Wine Guide, Cooking with Spices and Woman of Taste - Memoirs from the Wine World. In 1976, she was knighted by the French government with the Order of Agricultural Merit.

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
