Independent municipal area in the Département Vaucluse in the southern French appellation Côtes du Rhône-Villages (see AOC regulations there). Since 1966, the commune has been allowed to additionally indicate the name on the label. From the 14th century until the beginning of the French Revolution in 1789, Valréas was the capital of the papal estates. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 250 metres above sea level and cover 490 hectares of vineyards on stony slopes with red clay. Red, rosé and white wines are produced. Well-known producers are Domaine de la Fuzière, Domaine des Grands Devers and La Val des Rois.
