The white grape variety is an interspecific new variety, but parentage is unknown (VIVC catalogue). Synonyms are Seyve-Villard 23-410 and Valerian. The hybrid was crossed in France by the breeder Bertille Seyve (1864-1939). The variety is grown in the Vendée department at the mouth of the Loire. In 2016, 23 hectares of vineyards were designated there. There is also a tiny population in Romania (statistics Kym Anderson).
