One of the seven regional IGP areas for the production of local wines in France. The other six are Atlantique, Comtés Rhodaniens, Comté Tolosan, Méditerranée, Pays d’Oc and Terres du Midi. Until the 2007 vintage, the area was known as Vin de pays du Jardin de la France (Garden of France) – a reference to the picturesque region along the Loire with its numerous Loire castles. From 2007 to 2009, it was known as ‘Vin de pays du Val de Loire ’ and, since the 2010 vintage, as ‘IGP Val de Loire’.
