The winery is located in the municipality of Castelbello-Tschars in the lower Vinschgau Valley below Juval Castle at the corner to Val Senales Valley in the Italian wine-growing region of South Tyrol (Trentino-South Tyrol). The total estate covers seven hectares, on which vines and fruit are cultivated for the farm distillery. The owner is the well-known mountaineer Reinhold Messner. Since 1992 the farm has been leased by Gisela & Martin Aurich, who built it up as a joint project with Reinhold Messner. The vineyards cover four hectares in a south-southeast facing, predominantly steep location at an altitude of 630 to 850 metres above sea level with primary rock weathered soil on gneiss rocks. With a vine density of 8,000 vines per hectare, the varieties Blauburgunder, Weißburgunder, Riesling (25% each), Müller-Thurgau (15%) and Gemischter Sätze (10%) are cultivated there.
