Unione Italiana Vini

The oldest Italian winegrowers' association, UIV, with its headquarters in Milan, was founded in 1895. In 2022, Lamberto Frescobaldi from the well-known family empire was elected as the new president. The membership is made up of larger producers and trade bottlers. This is 709 companies representing around 150,000 winemakers accounting for more than 50% of Italian wine sales and over 85% of wine export sales. The main objective is to protect the interests of the wine sector in political and institutional terms at national, European and international level. Through initiatives, activities and services, it aims to support the development in the markets and promote the culture of wine in Italy and in the world. Since 1996, there has been the subordinate interest association "Confederazione Italiana della Vite e del Vino", which unites organisations from all areas of viticulture and wine trade. The UIV publishes the Italian wine publication "Corriere Vinicolo" and organises the two trade fairs SIMEI (Salone Internazionale Macchine per Enologia e Imbottigliamento) and ENOVITIS (Salone delle Tecniche per la Viticoltura). Oenological equipment such as bottling plants are exhibited at both. See also under Viticultural Institutions.
