Tulip

Name for a short stem glass for brandy (Armagnac, Cognac) named after the flower. The bulbous shape is intended to prevent the fragrance from escaping. There are also tulip-shaped glasses for beer, whereby the goblet is usually higher and slimmer (cylindrical) than the brandy glass. See also under wine vessels.
