Triangle test

In this test, two identical wine samples are compared with a slightly different third wine sample. The deviating sample must be recognised. The test can be carried out for various reasons and somewhat differently. For example, in a wine evaluation, an assessment is to be secured. The same wine is poured into two glasses, a second wine into a third glass. Now it has to be found out which two wines (glasses) are identical. This is repeated and as a final confirmation the sample is done a third time with a different order of glasses. The second possibility is to use it to test the sensory skills of a professional taster. The starting point is the same, the glass with the deviating wine must be identified. The candidate is then considered an expert if he or she guesses correctly in at least seven out of ten cases. See also under double tasting, pirate and QDA.
