Trentino-South Tyrol

The autonomous region of Trentino-Alto Adige in northern Italy was divided into the two autonomous provinces of Trento (Trento) and Bolzano (Bolzano) in 1972. In terms of viticulture, however, they are regarded as separate regions. The border is formed by the Salurner Klause, the narrow valley section of the Adige near Salurn. They have completely different histories. The northern part belonged to Austria for more than 600 years (dual Austro-Hungarian monarchy) and was awarded to Italy in 1919 after the First World War (1914-1918).

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
