DOC area for white wine in the Italian region of Abruzzo. The zone includes hilly areas in 174 municipalities in the provinces of Chieti (60), L'Aquila (37), Pescara (39) and Teramo (38). The wine is blended from Trebbiano d'Abruzzo and/or Trebbiano Toscano and/or Bombino Bianco (to. 85%), as well as other authorised varieties such as Cococciola (max. 15%). There are also the Superiore and Riserva versions. If the grapes come from classified vineyards, the indication Vigna followed by the name of the vineyard is possible.
In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
