Treasury

Traditional term (also wine library) for a wine cellar or cellar compartment for the storage of exquisite, valuable wines and wine rarities from special old vintages. Such wines are also known as treasury wines or crescendos, although this has no legal significance in wine law. The Cabinet cellar of the famous Eberbach monastery in the Rheingau and the term Cabinet for special wine qualities had a similar meaning. See also special wine designations under speciality wines.
