IGT area (also Toscano) in the Italian region of Tuscany. It covers the entire region with the provinces of Arezzo, Firenze, Grosseto, Livorno, Lucca, Massa-Carrara, Pisa, Pistoia, Prato and Siena. The area was created in 1995 especially for the Super-Tuscans. As a result, the table wines that were previously only marketable as Vino da Tavola could be declared as wines of protected origin. There are the wine types Bianco, Rosso (also as Novello), Rosato, Passito and Vendemmia tardiva(late harvest). A Frizzante is available from Bianco and Rosato. For this, all grape varieties permitted in Tuscany may be used in any mixture.
