The red grape variety (also Tinto Pegoes) is a new cross between Castelão Francês x Alicante Henri Bouschet according to DNA analyses carried out in 2020. The paternity Tintinha (Petit Bouschet) stated in the breeding list turned out to be wrong. The cross was made by the breeder José Leão Ferreira da Almeida in Portugal. Incidentally, the same parents also produced the new varieties Tintem and Valbom. The variety is cultivated in the Centro region. In 2016, 191 hectares of vineyards were designated in Portugal (Kym Anderson statistics).
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
