This red grape variety comes from Portugal. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2020, it comes from a presumably natural cross between Marufo x Touriga Nacional. It is cultivated in the Portuguese regions Centro and especially Norte. In 2016, 77 hectares of vines were reported (Kym Anderson statistics).
